The office approves lot splits in unincorporated portions of Ashtabula County and reviews and accepts applications for replats and major subdivisions that are brought before the Ashtabula County Planning Commission.  Planning must stamp approved on lot splits (Minor Subdivisions) 5 acres or less in unincorporated  areas of the county before property is transferred.  Most splits also require review by township zoning and the Health Department prior to approval.  Consultation with staff is recommended when considering a lot split.

Townships with zoning submit zoning text and map amendments to Community Services and Planning for review and submission to the Planning Commission.

Another function the Planning Office is tasked with is the issuance of address numbers for property within unincorporated areas of all townships, except Ashtabula Township which issues its own address numbers.
