In 2012, the Ashtabula County Port Authority (ACPA) established a county-wide brownfield program that focuses on identifying and redeveloping dormant industrial sites. By working in conjunction with communities throughout Ashtabula County, the ACPA believes that targeting and redeveloping the Brownfields could be a catalyst in creating a positive environment for new investment that could lead to the transformation of entire communities and districts. According to the Ohio EPA, Clean Ohio Brownfield Revitalization Fund programs have leveraged over $10.00 of investment per grant dollar through the redevelopment of over 380 former commercial and industrial properties. To the right is a chart of available funding through the Ohio EPA.
