The Ashtabula County Solid Waste Management District was established in 1993. The district is responsible for implementing a county-wide solid waste management plan to achieve Ohio’s goals for waste reduction, recycling and solid waste management. Historically, the District receives it’s funding through a tier fee on waste disposed in county landfills. In 2017 a $5 fee per improved parcel was authorized that will be collected on real estate taxes. These fees are then used to provide various services to Ashtabula County residents.
Below is the map for Ashtabula County SWMD Drop Off recycling locations. The drop off sites are open and intended to be used by residents of Ashtabula County.
To use the map, please click on a site location. This will show a variety of information about that individual site, including: address, parcel number, the number of recycling containers, days / times of operation (if applicable). This map will help redirect you to another location should our normal recycling site be over capacity for that day.
Currently, Ashtabula City, Geneva City, and Jefferson Village have established curbside recycling (please click their respective links for additional information regarding their individual programs).
Waste Management officials informed the Ashtabula County Solid Waste District that they would begin to offer residential subscription curbside recycling service to trash customers in Ashtabula County who are north of Interstate 90. This service is available to customers who have regular trash service (not orange bag customers) provided by Waste Management. Recycling will be collected every other week. Existing and new customers should contact Waste Management Customer Service, 866-797-9018, to sign up for the curbside recycling service.
